The village of Munduk is a world away from the beaches that draw most tourists to Bali. About 800 meters above the sea level, the cool thing about Munduk is the weather, its cool. If the heat and humidity of Kuta or Sanur are getting you down, Munduk will be a breath of fresh air.
It is such a fabulous waterfall with a spectacular little walk through the coffee and clove plantations which provides you with a fresh mountain air. It is also great for having a great walk to the other waterfall around the area. It is easily access and it would be in a route if you would make a trip up north to Lovina Beach. It is so much less commercial than the other waterfall in the region like Git Git. If you wish to skip the tourist crowd it is absolutely a great choice to visit this waterfall.
If you take stroll around the village, you’ll find the forests increasingly interesting with paths already paved for travelers. You’ll discover a beautifulCoffee plantation, clove, cacao and other fruit near that is Lake Tamblingan where farmers rely for the source of water. Also not so far is the Dalem Temple. Although situated in the forests of Munduk, it’s regarded as one of the most important temples of Bali.
You’ll find that most of the Munduk – Bali hotels are made of traditional materials such as wood and bamboo. Hotels in Munduk – Bali are earth-friendly. They’ll provide you with a great view of the surrounding village and the sea nearby. You don’t need to worry about the price as these hotels are mostly discount hotels. Munduk – Bali is basically a nature village and trekking is a must to appreciate the village for the weekend. Munduk – Bali tourists should ask for a tourist guide if you’re planning to go deep in the mountains.
If you are able to visit Munduk, it will take you into a very different atmosphere, feeling like you are on the top of a mountain and when the sunset comes, you can see very exciting views and the sea-water shining in the distance. Park your vehicles on the parking areas provided, then you will take half an hour walk down to the river through a narrow and winding path which is surrounded by the clove and coffee plants on both sides. On the way to the waterfall you will meet some friendly local people who will of course speak to you and even guide you.
The noisy sound of the falling water will welcome you when you reach your destination. A simple traditional hut has been built near the waterfall, which is sometimes used for meditation after your trip especially at night-time. Take a bath, swim and sink your body in the water which is cool, fresh, pure and not polluted by any chemical garbage. However, you are only allowed to do this when there is no rain, to avoid a landslide.
