Bali is Small Island only at 95 km from north to the south and 145 km from west to the east this is a tiny island by picturesque landscape is truly something to behold - magnificent rice terraces amid a sweeping range of volcanic mountains, Balinese Dance, Temple and Culture of Bali.
Geographically, the Province of Bali is located 80-30'-40" to 80-50'-48" south of the Equator and 1140-25'-53" to 1150-42'-40" east longitude.
The relief and topography of Bali have their main features of a mountain range that transverse the island from West to East. Among those mountains are two of significant sizes: the volcanoes of Gunung Agung ( 3.140 m ) and Gunung Batur (1.717 m).
As well as these features, Bali also has four lakes: Lake Beratan (375,6 Ha), Lake Buyan (336 Ha), Lake Tamblingan (11 Ha) and Lake Batur (1.607,5). GWK Statue is designed and built by Nyoman Nuarta, one of Indonesia’s foremost modern sculptor, the Garuda Wisnu Kencana statue or GWK and its pedestal building will be standing 150 meters tall with its wings span 64 meters across. Made from more than 4000 tons of copper and brass, the statue is picturing Lord Wisnu, as the source of wisdom, riding on the back of the mythical bird Garuda as the manifestation of conscience toward Amerta, the perennial goodness. The statue and its pedestal will be surrounded by more than 240 hectares cultural park which was once an abandoned and unproductive limestone quarry. The cultural park will provide attractions for both local and foreign visitors with supporting facilities such as Lotus Pond, Festival Park, Amphitheater, Street Theater, Exhibition Hall, as well as Jendela Bali The Panoramic Resto and souvenir shop. GWK Cultural Park is intended to educate, especially the young generations about the importance of preserving and cultivating world’s cultural heritage.
Dreamland Beach is located in the area named Pecatu. Still in the southern island of Bali. Precisely, a few kilometers before Pura Uluwatu from the direction of Denpasar. Kehen Temple is located only 1 km north of Bangli City on a foot of a hill overlooking the city, a high place which is a strategic place for viewing the surrounding. The city of Bangli is the capital of Kabupaten Bangli, second level government under the province of Bali with population around 40.000 people. Bangli city itself is 45 kms away from Denpasar city and 60 km from Kuta, 78 km from Nusa Dua tourist resort, a city located on the highland and is the highest city in Bali after Kintamani and Pupuan town.
The relief of the stone given to all buildings in the temple exactly has power. Tens of decoration plates of Chinese pottery are buried in the wall. The temple is famous for its Barong architecture and virtuoso relief carvings. With its courtyards of clipped grass and old frangipani trees, it is a tranquil and refreshing place.
Goa Lawah means ‘bat cave‘ Goa lawah temple is a famous tourist attraction, as well as a place of religious importance to the Balinese people. The temple was founded in 1007, by Empu Kuturan. Though the temple is small, it is considered very auspicious and is one of the 9 kayangan jagat (directional temples). Goa Lawah temple located near of hilly bank so it is called reef of Middle hill. This cave is located in Pasinggahan countryside, Dawan sub district, Klungkung Regency, east part of Bali and about 1,5 hours from Denpasar Town. There is a nature cave dwelt by thousands of tail bat located at north side from Jeroan/center of Gua Lawah Temple . Meanwhile the main road from Klungkung to Amlapura is just in front of the temple.
Kerta Gosa is located right in the center of Klungkung next to the main roundabout. The gardens of Taman Gili, in which Kerta Gosa sits, were built in 1710. For me the impressive thing was to look up at the ceiling and check out the terrifying artwork depicting good vs evil.

Trunyan Village is another ancient village inhabited by people who call themselves the “Bali Aga” or old Bali who live in ways that are vastly different from other Balinese. Trunyan village is located on the bank of lake Batur just on the foot of the mount Abang as shown on the photo number 3. Their unique tradition from the rest of Balinese is their tradition of not burying their dead member. They have 3 cemeteries. One is for the normal dead, second is for abnormal death such as fall from the wood during harvest of greenery for the cattles, or certain sickness which is considered very dangerous, and cemetery for the children.
Ulundanu temple is big temple complex beside the lake Beratan at the village of Candikuning, district of Baturiti, in the regency of Tabanan. It will take about 75 minutes from Denpasar in a normal traffic. Cool temperature always covers the area of the temple since it is located around the mountainous area at the altitude of some 1400 meters above sea level. The verdant tropical rainforest surrounding the lake Beratan makes the view behind the temple more spectacular. The name Ulun Danu, literally means "the beginning of the lake" But this might not to claim that the site is the beginning of a lake. It tends to indicate that everything that exists around the lake will have the orientation to the temple site, and cleanliness around the area must be continuously kept.
West Bali National Park is One of the most spectacular national parks to visit in the Archipelago is the Bali Barat National Park located on the western in Jembrana and Bueleng Regencies most tip of the island. With almost 200,000 acres of arid forests and mangrove swamps, Bali Barat (West Bali) National Park is a valuable natural treasure. Until recently, this was one of the few areas left sculptured by rice terraces and other human endeavors.
Bali is a well-populated island, intensively cultivated and without much natural forest left. Such forests are to found along the watershed at the western end of the island on the slopes of Gunung Sangiang, Gunung Merbuk, Gunung Musi and Gunung Patas, all areas watered by clear streams and traversed by footpaths, often steep but relatively easy walking.
Munduk Village is a world away from the beaches that draw most tourists to Bali. About 800 meters above the sea level, the cool thing about Munduk is the weather, its cool. If the heat and humidity of Kuta or Sanur are getting you down, Munduk will be a breath of fresh air.
It is such a fabulous waterfall with a spectacular little walk through the coffee and clove plantations which provides you with a fresh mountain air. It is also great for having a great walk to the other waterfall around the area. It is easily access and it would be in a route if you would make a trip up north to Lovina Beach.
It is so much less commercial than the other waterfall in the region like Git Git. If you wish to skip the tourist crowd it is absolutely a great choice to visit this waterfall.
Tanah Lot Temple is located in coastal side of Beraban countryside, Kediri sub district and Tabanan Regency. It is situated in 30 Km in west side of Denpasar town and about 11 Km in south side of Tabanan town. The temple is built on the rock with 3 acre size and reachable in a few minute by walk, because it is just 20 meters from the coastal lip. "Tanah Lot is claimed to be the work of the 15th century priest Nirartha. During his travels along the south coast he saw the rock-island's beautiful setting and rested there. Some fishermen saw him, and bought him gifts. Nirartha then spent the night on the little island. Later he spoke to the fishermen and told them to build a shrine on the rock for he felt it to be a holy place to worship the Balinese sea gods.
Alas Kedaton temple, just up the road from Tabanan, to get another taste of the place. Alas Kedaton has a temple, that is rather drab, a huge ‘art market’ outside the temple area, plus a selection of tall tress containing many macaque monkeys. Alas Kedaton temple is situated between Mengwi and Tabanan, in the village of Marga. The best way to get the from Kuta is to go through Kerobokan towards Canggu or Tanah Lot, turning right towards Tabanan and continuing through the main east-west road, and heading north. From Kuta the drive should take about 40 minutes.
The holy place surrounded by jungle where the monkey lived in there. And 'Kalong' or bats lived in there too. The visitors can make them to be photographed easily. Ask the guide man and they will happily assist you how to make this happen. All visitor can see them hanging around in the big tree branches and sometimes we can see them flying around.
Besakih temple is the most important temple in Bali. Known as the Mother Temple, Besakih sits on the western slop of Gunung Agung, the most holy place for Balinese Hindus. Getting to Besakih from Kuta is quite easy. Simply head east towards Sanur, connections with the Kusamba Bypass at Tohpati. Follow the fast track coastal route until you see signs for Klungkung, at which point you head north looking out for sign for Besakih. You should be at Besakih in around 2 hours from Kuta.
Besakih temple’s history dates back to megalithic times, with the most ancient section Pura Batu Madeg (temple of the Standing Stone) built around a central rock. Balinese people believe the founder of Besakih to be Sri Markandeya, a Javanese priest who was in Bali around the 10th Century AD
Tirta Empul Temple or Tampak Siring Temple is a holy spring water temple located in Tampak Siring Village, Gianyar regency and it is about 42 km eastwards from Denpasar town. It is set in the dale and encircled by the hill. In the west side of this temple, there is an Indonesian President palace which has been found by the first president. Historically, archaeologists have dated the founding of the site around 964 AD when two ponds were found. In a small village, Manukaya, just north of Tirta Empul an inscription was found which after being translated verified the founding of this sacred site. The inscriptions detailed the ritual cleansing of a holy stone that for more than 1,000 years was taken to the spring for purification on the exact day of each year of the founding of Tirta Empul.
Denpasar is Bali's capital city, it is the largest city on the island, the centre of commerce and governmental administration. The main street of the old town start with Jalan Gajahmada in the west, is the major commercial centre of shop, banks and restaurants, Surapati Street in the centre, followed by Hayam Wuruk Street and ends as Raya Sanur Street in the east. Jatiluwih is located at the administrative area of Kecamatan Penebel, Kabupaten Tabanan, very closed to national park border of Mount Batukaru around 65 km from Denpasar. One can reach the village via the road leading from Denpasar to Bedugul, and in Pacung village, take the road to the left before the restaurant, or from the town of Baturiti take the road to the left downward. The location of this village is a little bit lower then the altitude of Bedugul which is around 800 meters above sea level. The name of Jatiuwih comes from 2 Balinese words jati + luwih. Jati means real, and luwih means beautiful or excellent. This name is given to the vast stretch of rice field dug in terraces on the slope of mount Batukaru. The rice terrace forms beautiful sight at all seasons, during the watering, or before planting the rice looks like a tremendous construction big glass with irregular size of frames.
Gunung Kawi Sebatu Temple located is located northwest of the other two temples in a village of Sebatu, 40 kilometers from Denpasar or only 20 minutes drive north of Ubud. Sebatu Village is also known for the creativity of the villagers in creating woodcarving and handicraft as seen in all the shop along the village. This temple was built in homage to the God of preserver (Wisnu), who rules over water, and here one finds a number of natural spring and waterspouts. The Balinese believe that water is one of the forces of life. The etymology of Gunung Kawi means a fabricated mountain. It lies west of Sebatu village, which is elovated and its name means slipping on a stone. The temple’s stones are aged by time, under the rain and sun, and some even covered with fungus
Relief yeh Pulu is located in Bedulu village, in ricefield area, about 300 meters in the east of Batulumbang village, less than 26 km from Denpasar, in situation of traffic lane Denpasar – Tampak Siring – Kintamani. This monument was found by “ Punggawa Ubud” on 1925, has researched and published by Archeological Department of Holland which was lead by Dr W. F Sutterhien on 1929. The figures showing mixed between the fairy tales of wayang ( puppet show ) and like a common people. If we see the area of Pejeng, it is rich with ancient stone carvings, and also wayang figure is found near the village of Pejeng preserved at a temple called ” Arjana Metapa ” From the site itself it is hard to give estimated date of the construction. From iconographic study we can only use as typological date based on the ancient relief of Candi Penataran in east Java.
Medewi Beach is a beautiful beach area located near the village of Pulukan in West Bali. Medewi lies in the middle of Bali at a distance of about 75 km from Denpasar and 34 km west of Tabanan. A small and remote tourist spot, Medewi Beach is regarded as one of Bali's premier surfing destinations. This place is little far from Kuta and there is hardly any night life in this area. The best surf is early in the mornings before the wind picks up. The biggest waves are in August when even the village's fishermen don't dare to go out. The locals make their living by fishing off the black sand beach, peddling giant prawns to tourists, and grazing their cattle in surrounding paddocks.
Pura Goa Gajah or Elephant Cave Temple is located 6 km from Ubud. The cave was revealed to the public in 1923. The bathing place was discovered and restored only in 1954 during archeological investigations done by Mr.Krijgsman. The history of Goa Gajah is not known definitely. In a literal translation "Goa" means cave and "Gajah" elephant. The name is a fusion of the name Pura Guwa (Temple Cave), as it is called by the local people, and the ancient name as it appears in the scriptures know as Ergajah and Lwa Gajah. Around the temple beautiful rice field line the ravine through which flows the Petanu River. Nearby can be found the historic sites of Yeh Pulu, Samuan Tiga, Gedung Arca, Arjuna Bertapa, Kebo Edan, Pusering Jagat, the temple of Penataran Sasih, and others.
